Media literacy is an important 21st-century skill. For this discussion board:

· Read chapter 11 in your textbook, and review the other resources in this unit.

· Define media literacy and why it is an important skill to hold today. 

· Discuss the impact of media on your personal, professional, and social life.  Is media a burden or blessing?  

· In response to your peers, discuss ways you can be more literate about your media consumption and experiences. (Please respond to at least two classmates’ posts.)

Yousafzai, Dickinson, and Ragab all incorporate unique perspectives in their words. In what perspective does the world see you? In what perspective do you see yourself? 

It is important for you to develop an honest and unique perspective of yourself as you continue your journey through school, and through career changes or advancements.  Use this discussion board to gain some insight on how to present yourself to others.

Each of these works of literature holds a unique point of view. As you are reading them, consider what that point of view is, and how the story would change if the point of view were from a different perspective.

· Emily Dickinson is a perfect example of an author who often tried to be outside of herself when writing. In “I heard a Fly buzz–when I died–,” it is obvious that the proverbial ‘fly on the wall’ is watching the subject as she passes beyond the room.
