Aspen Falls Restaurants
Project Description:
In this project, you will modify a workbook to track taxes generated by restaurants in the Aspen Falls area. To complete the project, you will enter and format data, create formulas and functions, create and format a pie chart and a clustered column chart, apply conditional formatting, use Find and Replace to edit data, and finally create page footers.
Instructions:
For the purpose of grading the project you are required to perform the following tasks:
Step Instructions Points Possible
Start Excel. Download, save, and open the Excel file named Skills_eV1_Grader_CAP. 0
On the Taxes worksheet, center the title, Aspen Falls Restaurants, across cells D2:F2. 2
In cell J3, type Annual. In cell J4, type Federal Taxes. Center the text in each cell. 4
In cell J5, insert a formula that will add the numbers in cells F5:I5. Use the fill handle to copy the formula into cells J6 through J8. 5
In cell D2, apply the cell style Heading 1. 3
In cell J9, insert the SUM Function to total the values in the range J5:J8. Apply the Total cell style to the cell. 3
In cell C5, type Cafe after Giorno’s. In cell J2, type Tax Rebate and in cell K2, enter the value 3000 as the rebate amount. In cell K4, type After Rebate. 4
In cell K5, use an absolute cell reference to construct a formula that subtracts the rebate from the Annual Federal Taxes. Copy the formula down through cell K8. 5
Apply the accounting number format to the range F5:K9. 3
Select the nonadjacent ranges C5:C8 and J5:J8, and create a clustered column chart. 4
Change the fill color of the data series to Red, Accent 2. 3
Remove the legend and insert the title Annual Federal Taxes above the chart. 5
Reposition the clustered column chart so that the top left corner of the chart area aligns with the top left corner of cell E11. 3
Select the nonadjacent ranges K5:K8 and C5:C8 and create a Pie in 3-D chart in a new chart sheet named Rebate Taxes. 7
For all the slices, change the 3-D rotation of X to 30, and then change the point explosion of the Giorno’s Café slice by 40%. 4
In the pie chart, insert the chart title Taxes After Rebate above the chart, and then apply the Style 42 chart style. 5
Display the legend at the bottom of the chart area and increase the font size to 24. 4
On the Taxes worksheet, clear the formatting in the range F4:I4, and then right-align the text. In the range F3:I3, use the Date Format to change the dates to show as 3/31, 6/30, 9/30 and 12/30. 4
On the Revenue worksheet, in cell G5, insert a formula that subtracts the Local Taxes and Federal Taxes from the revenue and then divides that remainder by the number of branches for Giorno’s Café indicated in the Taxes worksheet (use the cell reference, not the number). Use the fill handle to copy the formula into cells G6:G8. 5
On the Meal Deal Sales Winners worksheet, in cell J6, use the MIN function to find the lowest number of Meal Deals sold. 3
In cells F5:F26, use the three triangles icon set in the directional style of conditional formatting to indicate where each manager falls among the group in terms of sales. 3
Add a new conditional formatting rule to format the range F5:F26 using a three-color scale. Keep the default values. 3
In column E, use Find and Replace to change all occurrences of AM Shift to Morning. 4
In cell I2, use the NOW function to insert the current date and time. 3
In cell J7, use the SUM function to insert the total number of Meal Deals sold. In cell J8, use the MAX function to find the most Meal Deals sold. 6
Group all of the worksheets together. Insert the file name in the center section of the footer for all of the worksheets in the workbook. Keep the worksheets grouped together. 5
Ensure that the worksheets are correctly named and placed in the following order in the workbook: Rebate Taxes; Taxes; Revenue; and then Meal Deal Sales Winners. Save the workbook. Close the workbook and then exit Excel. Submit the workbook as directed. 0
