Read the following scenario:
A 13-year-old male in the seventh grade recently came to school with bruises on his arm and scratches on his face. He and his primary caregiver (his biological mother) have been referred to you by Child Protection Services (CPS). The CPS case worker indicates that, according to their investigation, this was the only time physical abuse has occurred and both mom and son are very motivated for treatment.
