Hi. I need this assignment it is due today at 11:30 AM
“Power is not a means, it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power.” George Orwell
There is no right or wrong answer here. You want to consider Orwell’s statement as a problem, an argument to be debated.
Is dictatorship, martial law, autocratic rule, imperial presidency; whatever you may like to call such a rule of government always an exercise of power for power’s sake?
Are there any possible positive outcomes in such rule: to keep public order and protect the safety of citizens, for instance?
Does the current NSA debate have any relevance for Orwell’s statement?
