What do you believe are some challenges in sharing new results of research based on EDIM with the public? For example, with the COVID-19 vaccine, which is based on EDIM, why do so many not believe the use of EDIM for the COVID-19 vaccines? What could public health professionals do to address this hesitancy?

It is essential that we know what information is evidence based and what is not. Making informed decisions with confidence and having supportive evidence as your foundation is the best way to make expert decisions. It is essential to maintain a safe and effective reputation and to be able to answer questions with credibility (Mowat & National Collaborating Centre for Methods and Tools, 2017). No matter what type of questions arise, the public needs to not be confused by the information that is being disseminated. Meaning all subject/topic matters must have a clear message that can be supported and understood by all.

Evidence informed decision making  shows how complex public health decision making is. Research, community health issues, community resources, and public health resources all contribute equally to source the evidence needed to make an expert public health decision (National Collaborating Centre for Methods and Tools, 2016). Practice and policy vary all depending on factors like geographical location and population. A public health decision for a Latin community in National City, Ca is going to be different that a public health decision on the Chinese- American community in San Francisco, Ca. Mainly based on the fact of difference in predisposition to various diseases and ailments and geographical location (resources).

Why is evidence-informed decision-making essential for public health?

Evidence-informed decision making is essential in Public Health because it requires the use of good quality evidence which leads to quality health care services.  Studies show that decision making in Public Health can be effective when analyzing various types of research such as  heterogeneous data, including health care devices usage, physiological, cognitive, clinical and medication, personal, behavioral, lifestyle data, occupational and environmental data. (Prasinos, 2022) After watching the assigned videos, I gathered that data does vary across location and Public Health Organization. Therefore evidence-informed decision making will be essential in improving and targeting health disparities in Public Health.
