Proofreading in conjunction with the checklists seems to help with identifying any mistakes. While writing the paper, there is occasionally a need for obtaining more research material to support an idea. One recommendation is to make sure the source is listed on the reference page before writing anything in the body of the paper. This should prevent forgetting to list the reference source at the completion of the paper. Another suggestion is to slow down when proofreading to ensure the sentences are making sense and it is what you are trying to communicate. This can be accomplished by printing a hard copy and penciling in any corrections. A hard copy may also make it easier to have someone else read through it for any mistakes. One of the issues I keep experiencing is writing in passive voice instead of active voice. The Grammarly program helps with identifying this to enable the sentence to be rewritten in active voice (PU, 2021).
