INTRODUCTION DRAFT for trends project.
Career field: Law Enforcement Management
Three trends: intelligence-led community policing, data and system-driven approaches to management, Positive Community Policing Strategies for Diverse Cultures.
Many changes have been made in the criminal justice system. Unfortunately, these trends don’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. Local criminals and cybercriminals worldwide are now expected to be protected by law enforcement organizations (Carter & Fox, 2019). Because of the rapidity with which the cyber threat has evolved, law enforcement has been unable to plan and train for it adequately. The three most crucial trends that I will focus on in this research include intelligence-led community policing, data and system-driven approaches to management, Positive Community Policing Strategies for Diverse Cultures.
Law enforcement agencies have difficulties recruiting, training, and keeping individuals who investigate and solve cybercrimes (Koziarski & Lee, 2020). In the private sector, anybody with computer technology competence may make more money. Once officers have completed their training, they will very indeed be sought out by private-sector employers. For those in positions of authority in law enforcement, the problem is to decide whether their department should create a dedicated cybercrime section or whether all police should get training in this area. This is a problem that only law enforcement agencies face, raising questions about available resources. The issue of determining who has jurisdiction over some issues has also arisen. Members of their communities are being victimized by cybercrime committed by perpetrators who may be located across the nation or on the other side of the globe. The most challenging part is determining which agency is responsible for the crime.
